iorad – “the tutorial builder” is a little known tool that produces big results when it comes to training and creating tutorials.
What is iorad?
iorad is a web or desktop application that records your actions within a browser to create an instant tutorial that can be edited and shared with others. Unlike a screen recording, which records all movement, sound, buffering, etc., iorad records actions and turns them into interactive steps.
The application pays close attention to what you are clicking (or dragging, or scrolling…), highlights the area, and creates a written instruction for the learner (example: “Click the Settings button in the main menu”). While the user does have the options to view the steps as a video, iorad’s default mode is Try It! The Try It! mode requires users to physically complete the instruction before moving onto the next step.

This tutorial opens in Try It! mode by default. Clicking on the menu in the top right will open up other options for viewing: View It, Slide It, Watch It, and Print It. Users have the option to switch modes to fit their individual needs.
